Limited Edition Peglets

Growing up I have very fond memories of afternoon teas where a beautiful table cloth, usually my mothers hand- tatted or hand embroidered one, would be spread, and an array of delicious cakes, slices and other baking would be put out on fine bone china. Guests would be served tea in beautiful china by “ Royal Doulton” or “Shelly” and I, as a young child, would be given a glass of homemade lemonade and a plate on which I was allowed to select no more than three pieces, after first taking the plates around to all the guests. Everyone would sit about swapping news and recipes and by being very quiet I could listen in on all the gossip and gain little insights into the mysterious adult world.

Over time I have collected some of the recipes that I remember from my childhood.

With each recipe there is a happy memory of the person and times that I shared with them. Some people are no longer with us and others still are busy in their kitchens cooking up a storm, but when I bake one of their biscuits or slices I can have them right there in the kitchen with me.
